Onomnl: Wax Perfume
a pleasant first encounter

Before we begin, OnoMNL was looking for individuals who would give an honest review of their products. OnoMNL is a local brand that focuses on products for men. This review will be conducted by myself, a university instructor and photographer. I work both behind a desk and on the field and personally, I have used perfume and body spray with the latter being used more frequently. This is because I am more active and engaged when I am out on shoots and documentation assignments and body sprays just last longer than perfumes.
I use perfume during formal events or when I go out for leisure. As such, the idea of trying a new product appealed to me. This is my first time using wax perfume. Please do note that perfumes and sprays or any other scented products such as wax perfume may behave differently for each individual. The scent and scillage may vary based on your body’s make up and chemistry. Please keep this in mind as you read the review.

The kind folks over at OnoMNL sent me one of their wax perfumes for a review. I had a choice of either the “Nice Guy”, “Chief” or “Rock Star” scents and I went with the first one. Nice Guy is a talc scented wax perfume with a rather refreshing powdery scent. Upon receiving the item, I couldn’t help but leave it by my bedside table as I enjoyed the fragrance of the perfume.
Packaging
The perfume comes in a tin container with a slide-off top cover. The container came in a canvas pouch with draw strings, something to keep the tin secure for those times you will be on the move. The case itself is minimalist with the front showing only the OnoMNL branding and the scent’s name. No other details or marks adorn the product.
The tin measured approximately 60mm x 33mm x 12mm with the cover on, making it portable, low profile and convenient to carry around. It easily fit in my pockets which is a plus for those who aim to travel light. You also won’t need to worry about breaking a bottle and having your perfume spill over your belongings in the event you do drop it.
The dimple on the top of the tin cover helps keep things in place. I did notice, however, that the cover tends to come off easily when it is anything but right-side up. I wouldn’t recommend just tossing it into a bag as the cover can be knocked off by your other belongings. Using the pouch to keep things safe and secure would be best. I think it would also have been nice to see the volume of the product printed on the case but it may just be me. Hopping on over to their website shows the tins contain 20g per container.
Application, Sillage and Fragrance:
The wax perfume is solid and stays in place within its container. Once it came in contact with my finger, however, the wax melted and was easy to apply. I did not need to rub my hands together to generate heat to melt the wax and I live in a place that is quite cold. Indoor ambient temperature where I am plays around 18 to 22 degrees with the temperature dropping further toward the “ber” months. It goes without saying that you should keep your perfume away from direct sunlight and store it in a cool, dry place.
The perfume was light and pleasant, giving off a “fresh” feeling. I applied a light amount of the product on my pulse points. To be specific, I prefer applying perfume to my collar bones, neck and wrists as well as my jaw. The amount I applied was about how much you would get from lightly brushing a fingertip against the wax. This was enough for one to two application points and was enough to retain the scent adequately and noticeably.
I noticed that the fragrance was not as aggressive as some perfume I have used in the past and the scent was not overwhelming. I have asthmatic rhinitis and the perfume did not trigger any allergic reaction, unlike other products that caused irritation within minutes of application. For those with similar allergies, I highly recommend the product.
Upon use, I noticed that the fragrance lasts between one to four hours. As the sillage varies from person to person as well as due to the amount of activity one is engaged in, a reapplication may be needed every now and then but given how small the tin is, it’s easy to carry around for just that.
Pricing:
After having a look at other similar products, I was surprised that prices ranged between P1,000.00 to as much as P7,000.00. With a tin of the product selling for P500.00, I recommend OnoMNL’s offerings for those looking to get into wax perfume use.
